I havent really used it; preferring instead to take the full systematic approach to learning the mandolin as I did nearly 70 years ago with the violin. That approach is best served by Mel Bays Complete Mandolin Method. The Leonard book; however; appears to me to be better than others I have seen along similar lines. I do recommend getting a teacher no matter what book you use. J. MartinAll Hal Leonard method books are good. I probably bought every beginner guitar book written and would have given up learning if I hadnt found Hal Leonards. That was years ago; but when I picked up a mandolin; theirs was the first I went to. I have only been working at it a short time but can see myself getting better every day. But it isnt magic - it does take practice!
