Feeling slightly misled by the title.By Devin WilsonThis is super subjective; but I just really dont enjoy playing the tunes in this; at all.Im working through Alfreds Adult All-in-One Level 1; and as a fan of listening to jazz piano (and as someone who listens to a lot of what could be called "rock"; though thats an extremely broad genre) I just found the supplementary tunes in this book to be very unsatisfying both to my ears and to my learning fingers. The blue note move itself gets a bit tedious to me on both fronts; in all honesty.Even given the historical relationship between jazz; rock; and blues... I really feel like this book should be titled Blues Course or Blues/Rock Course.I mean; so much of the material is built around blues scales rather than the seventh (or other extended) chords that I identify as more distinctly in the realm of jazz. And its not as though there couldnt be material for beginners built around two-handed extended chords. It seems totally feasible to me; perhaps even more so than using so many accidentals. So; if youre coming to this for what I feel is the iconic sound of jazz piano (versus blues or blues-rock piano); just be careful. Look up some of the tunes on YouTube and see if youd be interested in playing that kind of thing. I should have been more careful in researching the book myself before buying it; but I figured that given how much I was enjoying the other Alfred material that I couldnt go wrong.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great to improve my pianoBy ErinIts book has been great so far; its very comprehensive for the price. Love that the improvisation is so well incorporated into these pieces. Its book has been a good accompaniment to my classical Alfred book
