Review
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Brilliant; insightful and ready for more attention.By Curtis DawThe introduction of this book is worth the full price by itself; but this extended argument about the way Shakespeares plays were written (through a constant process of theatrical revision; during and even after his lifetime) untangles so many knotty problems that it is a must-read for scholars. It advances an argument about the way that Early Modern culture looked at ownership of plays which is stunningly different from modern ideas about authorial rights. By looking at particularly problematic texts; the author patiently explains how so many textual puzzles came to surround Shakespeares early texts.
