Description

Includes the plays The Liar; The Illusion; Le CidPierre Corneille (1606ndash;84); the great seventeenth-century neoclassical dramatist; wrote over thirty plays during his long and varied career. Triumphant in both comedy and tragedy; his plays remain at the core of the repertory. When the young Moliegrave;re saw The Liar (Le Menteur); a delightful chronicle of a pathological liarrsquo;s adventures in love; he decided to become a playwright. The Illusion (Lrsquo;Illusion Comique) is a fascinating and mysterious tragi-comedy; one of the first plays to explore consciously the relationship between theatre and the real world. Le Cid; Corneillersquo;s best known play; was controversial in its day; and led to a resurgence in French drama.Ranjit Boltrsquo;s version of The Liar finds a way of rendering rhyming couplets which lsquo;no one else from the history of translating for the theatre has ever donehellip;with some style and without sacrificing the sense of gallantry that is so essential to the original text.rsquo; (BBC Radio3rsquo;s Critics Forum.) Both The Liar and The Illusion recently enjoyed critical and box office success at the Old Vic; reaffirming Ranjit Bolt as one of the worldrsquo;s foremost translators of drama.

And helpful guidelinesBy Michelle ScottI was really hesitant to buy the book with my precious gift card because what if it wasnt worth the price. I am glad to say that it was worth the price. My gift money was well spent. I enjoyed this book cover to cover! The authors included so many tips and tricks that I havent even heard of in the clay sculpting world. Tricks that I have tried and work fantastically. A little bit of humor is added and a good amount of dino facts too.5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. ReviewBy Shaun DunnThis is good; but I really expected more; with content to include the more modern techniques; resin and acrylics. As it is it is still a good starter on sculpting.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. This book is a dream come true for every one ...By Jose L MadrigalThis book is a dream come true for every one interested in dinosaur sculpting; but I firmly believe that it could also be very valuable for anyone interested in any kind of sculpting...even if clay is not the medium used. The step-by-step description of the process is priceless. Thank you.
