By the year 1900; architect Andrew Taylor had designed Bank of Montreal branches across the continent and much of McGill University; helped found the McGill School of Architecture; and played a critical role in creating the first professional organization for Quebec architects. In The Architecture of Andrew Thomas Taylor; Susan Wagg presents a groundbreaking study of the life and work of a major figure in nineteenth-century Canadian architecture.Born in Edinburgh and trained in Scotland and England; Taylor spent two decades in Canada between 1883 and 1904; designing some of Montreals most iconic landmarks. Wagg places his career amidst the wealth of opportunities provided by Canadas high society and captains of industry. Taylors Canadian relatives; Montreals powerful Redpath family; brought him into contact with the small group of financiers and entrepreneurs who controlled Canadas destiny. With the support of such influential patrons as Sir William Macdonald and the Bank of Montreal; Taylor successfully confronted dramatic changes in building technology as iron and steel were increasingly used and buildings grew ever taller. He innovatively adapted English and American styles to the Canadian environment; designing structures distinctively suited to their place in history.Positioning Taylors extensive designs within the context of his time; The Architecture of Andrew Thomas Taylor firmly establishes his work as a cornerstone of Canadian architecture.

More difficult than the EZ Piano VersionsBy SunnyI thought the 5 finger piano would be easier for my daughter (3.5 years old) to play but it turns out its a lot more trickier than the EZ Piano Versions. She can read basic notes and definitely the ABCDEFG letters for both hands. I never learned to play the piano professionally; but I do have many different versions of Disney Piano sheet music so I will try my best to give you a good description and comparison.I thought the 5-Finger Piano versions would be a simplified version of the Disney songs using just 10 keys. Depending on the song it uses more than 10 keys. It also requires knowledge of how to read both treble and base. It also doesnt have any of the letters (ABCDEFG) like the EZ Piano Versions for Disney songs. But if I had a choice; Id go back and purchase the EZ Piano Disney sheet music books. At least the EZ Piano music versions are easier to read due to the larger notes sizes and the letters are clearly written within the notes. The EZ Piano versions requires only one hand to play. However if you can read notes; can understand both treble and base; can play sharps and flats; can reach the pedal; etc. then this book will work for you. The level of this book is just a couple levels down from Disney Movie Favorites Piano Accompaniment versions. The 5-finger version does give you the lyrics with the song; something the higher level piano accompaniment versions dont do.Bottom line; am I returning this book? No; because my daughter will eventually be able to play from this book as long as she continues her piano lessons. But for someone like me whos never taken piano lessons; its too hard for me.The songs included in this collection are:Colors of the WindPart of Your WorldA Whole New WorldJust Around the RiverbendSomething ThereI WonderA Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
