The antagonism between urbanist and writer Jane Jacobs and master builder Robert Moses may frame debates over urban form; but in "Building Like Moses with Jacobs in Mind;" Scott Larson aims to use the Moses-Jacobs rivalry as a means for examining and understanding the New York City administrations redevelopment strategies and actions. By showing how the Bloomberg administrations plans borrow selectively from Moses and Jacobs writing; Larson lays bare the contradictions buried in such rhetoric and argues that there can be no equitable solution to the social and economic goals for redevelopment in New York City with such a strategy. "Building Like Moses with Jacobs in Mind" offers a lively critique that shows how the legacies of these two planners have been interpretedmdash;and reinterpretedmdash;over time and with the evolution of urban space. Ultimately; he makes the case that neither figure offers a meaningful model for addressing stubborn problemsmdash;poverty; lack of affordable housing; and segregation along class and racial linesmdash;that continue to vex todays cities.

It covers all the camera features in an easy to read fashion. The illustrations make it easy and simple to follow along. Dont expect to read the book in one sitting; nor to read it and become an overnight expert on the cameras many features. There is a lot to learn and youll want to experiment w/ different settings before really feeling comfortable w/ all the 5300 can do. Consider it a companion piece to your D5300.15 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Very good to haveBy Roger J. BuffingtonThis is a very good starting point for users of the Nikon D5300. The D5300 comes with not much of a manual; and I found that this one filled the gap. It is great that one can have this on ones Kindle or iPad; for easy reference in the field. I found that if I just read through this one like a novel and highlighted the important chapters that I wound up with a very handy reference guide. The authors writing is clear and helpful; unlike Nikons "manual." RJB.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great GuideBy W. M. ElliottThis is a terrifically informative book. It is full color; as advertised. There is so much information; I know it will answer all of my needs for getting to know our D5300 now and in the future. Ive just scratched the surface of this guide and once Ive had more time and experience Ill gladly update the review. As of now; Im very pleased with this book and its content.
