The arrangements are not flashy and David occasionally simplifies chord progressions slightly but I believe that book may serve as a useful starting point for a beginner trying to learn Travis picking of jazz tunes. Providing that you look at it more as a tool box - a set of simple blocks that can be reused rather then performance level arrangements. For more complex harmony I would recommend Barry Galbraiths books but they can be a bit challenging for a beginner and harder to deconstruct into reusable patterns.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Hopefully I can get some ideas for arranging in the travis-picking style from this book; but this isnt the kind of book Im going to work on cover-to-cover. Meh.
