Recollections by a guy who "was there" with not that much to say.By Classics CollectorAn earnest attempt by son Jacob Maymudes to glorify his late fathers life; this book is basically a first draft by scene-maker Victor Maymude in an attempt to cash in on his long friendship/sycophancy w/ Bob Dylan after a falling out. Transcripted from recollections Victor made on tape in the year before his death it unfortunately has little literary merit and insight."Another Side Of Bob Dylan" is a misnomer; its really just a checklist of all of Maymudes claims to being on the scene at basically every counter culture major happening and trend. One would think that this insider would hold one of the essential keys to Dylans enigmatic character but one would be wrong. Nothing is delivered; nothing is revealed; its the last and weakest book Ill read about Dylan.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. GreAt readBy ciscokidsisterWonderful amazing ;non stop reading ;come to love Victor and his son ;and I feel like I know Bob Dylan better ;feel like he was and is a little odd;but great music that I grew up with and still enjoy ; Victor cared for Bob ; so much love is in this book;the feeling that Bob cared for Victor too; but pride got in the way ; we are all guilty of that; and we end up sorry when its to late ;lets believe it was Bob that came to victors memorial.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Just finished reading Jacobs very sweet and informative collaborative memoirBy Mr. Reinaldo GarciaJust finished reading Jacobs very sweet and informative collaborative memoir. Victor Maymudes was transformed for me from the Dylan sidekick in the Daniel Kramer photos into a principled; resourceful; fully-rounded man and father. As with every Dylan voyeur; I wanted more Dylan--yet not less of Victor. Jacobs portrait of himself as a dutiful son may be the cause of his discretion: Many unsavory Dylan anecdotes reportedly were left out of the book. Still; a very enjoyable read.
