Rivers Cuomo was obviously going through a hard time; but pain makes for great art; specifically great rock music. This album is passionate; gritty and emotional. Rivers pours his heart into this album and it shows. Musically it is genius; the band is right on the money; every song (as they consistently are). This album will take you on a ride; punctuated with Rivers occasional yelps and yells throughout. Its a different sound than the Weezer of recent; not as pop sounding. I love all the Weezer genres; but this album will please Weezer fans and non-fans alike.
