It is easy to read and understand and it goes in a chronological order describing some of the liners from different companies and nations; which allows the reader to compare and contrast them; as well as to appreciate the evolution of the design.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Best of the Best in Picture Histories of ShipsBy James P HickmanThis is probably my favorite book on the great liners of all time. Why? Because there are sooooo many great photos you wont see anywhere else. And the format is large - so you can see the photos easily. I highly recommend this book to ship fans and also to lovers of great interior design. I only wish there was a sequel! One other thing I like about it is how it covers many ships that are lesser known. I only wish there was a photo of each ships exterior; so you can see what ship he is showing you the inside of. GREAT book.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Interior Design at SeaBy P. GleszerMost illustrated books about liners or ships of any nature focus on the exterior -- the shape of the bow; the stern and funnels -- maybe a few shots of the deck. This book goes inside and highlights the evolution of liner decor during the 20th Century. It also provides an interesting contrast of how different themes are common to specific nations and their ships; with France the style leader (Normandie) and the US the most overtly practical (United States).
