I can get lost in these pages; and love sharing them with anyone Id take to such places as here depicted. The little vignettes that accompany the images arent mere filler: rather they round and deepen the experience; delivered in sharp; clean prose. The cover design is strangely underwhelming compared to the contents; so dont be fooled.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Gorgeous book of hotelsBy L. SchattmanThis gorgeous book of luxury hotels is organized by region and covers North India; Rajasthan; Goa; South India; the Maldives; and Sri Lanka. Each hotel is represented by a 1- to 2-page description and about 4 pages of color photographs (mostly interior; but some exterior). The description focuses on the design of the hotel - colors; materials; construction; furniture; finishes; etc. It is a wonderful book for designers and armchair travelers; it is not intended as a travel guide; although it does include the address; phone number and website of each hotel. The quality of the photographs is very good; the paperback cover is thick; and the binding seems strong. The photographs are an excellent source of inspiration for designers; and the text adds some context regarding the decisions made during the design process. Highly recommended for interior design libraries.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Features the best hotels of the regionBy Midwest Book ReviewStudents of architecture; hotel and commercial building design; and travel will all find much to attract in Cool Hotels: India; Maldives; Sri Lanka: it features the best hotels of the region; from rustic to big city; and discusses craftsmanship; artistic dsbquo;cor; and landscaping qualities which make each hotel exceptional. The meat of Cool Hotels lies in its full-page color photos of both interior and exteriors of featured hotels.
