Review
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. simply wonderfulBy Ania M. NowakThe idea behind this book is wonderfully simple and brilliant - gather a few tattoos which seem to be worn by pretty much everyone these days and juxtapose them against one another to show that despite the accusations of the lack of originality and intelligence; the tattooed people are able to come up with wonderful designs; beautiful images and touching stories behind their tattoos.I first got to read `Body Type. Intimate Messages Etched in Flesh and I loved it right away. Ina Saltz shows there what a wonderfully rich potential typography holds for tattoos and her introduction discussing the various font types and how one can look at them is definitely worth reading and keeping in mind next time youll decide to get a new tattoo done.`Body Type 2 is as good as the first part and it shows not only a new collection of text tattoos but also discusses the impact the first volume had on its readers which is a clear sign that the book was well done and approached its subject with a respect and open mind. Both books are very nicely laid out and seem to be sturdy enough to survive multiple sessions of flipping through. I would wholeheartedly recommend buying not only `Body Type 2 but also `Body Type 1 for its introduction parts sake since its very informative and makes the reader look at typography from a whole new perspective.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Amazing and unexpectedBy Carol MWOW. The images in this book blew my mind. Ive known designers who were obsessive about type; but this takes it to a whole new level. Beautiful but disturbing. Creepy yet appealing. As I turned each page; I kept thinking "I should get a tat like that" and then "I could NEVER do that". The workmanship is amazing; too. Exactly what youd expect from type geeks; I guess. The lorem ipsum tattoo is completely stuck in my brain. I put the book out on the table in our art department; and am expecting to hear an uproar soon.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. More beautiful pictures and storiesBy Nicki HoffmanI picked up the first Body Type a little while ago and knew that I wanted to check out the second edition. It is great! There are more inspiring tattoos and stories broken into thematic sections. I really loved reading about why people have chosen the tattoos that they got. I am also using these books to figure out what kind of typographic tattoo I would like to get. As with the first edition; this book is a must for anyone who loves tattoos and/or typography.
