Solid information for any performer at any level.By Kindle ReaderAs a performance coach; I am always on the lookout for good books on this subject; so it is with a bit of trepidation that I opened Andy Evansrsquo; book Secrets of Performing Confidence. I could not put it down. This book is packed with solid information; tools; and techniques that any performer at any level can use right away. Its also easy on the eyes with numerous illustrations and graphs to support the text. I forced myself to read it slowly not to miss any nugget. Mr. Evans took me on a psychological journey through a performerrsquo;s mind and heart. I particularly appreciated Part II: Performing with its detailed description of Peak Performance; Preparing for Performances; and Managing Performance Anxiety. If youve ever had difficulty understanding what you were feeling and experiencing when performing; especially if you have stage-fright and anxieties; you will get answers in these chapters.Itrsquo;s obvious that Mr. Evans has a wide and deep knowledge of this field. This book is highly recommended to anyone who finds themselves in front of an audience.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. An important book and an original contribution to the genreBy MeguidoAn invaluable; time-tested vade mecum and first-aid manual for performing artists and their teachers and coachesmdash;buy it!As a teacher and professor; I appreciate the bookrsquo;s street-cred derived from Andy Evansrsquo; lifework with leading performers in the arts over a period of 25 years AND the best of research. Authors Andy and Adam clearly know what theyre talking about: they are themselves active in the arts; talk the talk; walk the walk; and have "been there". No wonder the text contains a lot of insights and tips you havent come across in similar kinds of books or online. As a scholar in the field of story; I appreciate the textrsquo;s power and integrity in being written out of the words and experiences of performers themselves; with all their own typical issues; and their accounts of how they made progress by using the strategies and methods in the book. Numerous case studies illustrate how differing issues produce differing solutions. As a coach; I appreciate the authorsrsquo; worldview and stance:a love of life; curiosity; and delight illuminate every page.As a writer; I appreciate the lively format and stylemdash;the book is accessible and easy to follow; replete with graphics; information boxes; and short case studies; packed with information. The writing is engaging; inventive; and provocative. This is an important book and original contribution to the genre.mdash;Meguido Zola
