I really wish Id looked at the preview of this book before plunking down ten bucks for it. Utterly worthless; and while the music may indeed leave stains; this book leaves something so much worse. Just a totally and wholly unredeemable waste of money here. Save your money and just listen to the band and read interviews. Oh; and to the author; the one who writes like a remedial freshman English student: The cover of the book Hollywood Babylon features a picture of JAYNE MANSFIELD; not Marilyn Monroe; you clueless; clueless idiot.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Fun readBy JFun; quick read. Enjoyed the Misfits chapter in American Hardcore and wanted to dig deeper. Only about 150 pages but covers every era of the Misfits up until Devils Rain and right before the Danzig covers album; mostly concentrating on their early years. Quite a few typos and not eloquently written but enjoyable nonetheless. Most of this info is probably available on various websites and blogs by now but this cuts through all the BS and just tells the story straight. The recent reunion of the "Original Misfits" makes more sense after reading this. In fact; theyve been working on a Danzig reunion since the Graves era and Danzig has been interested for a while now. If youre a fan of the Misfits or any of Danzigs bands theres no reason not to pick up a copy. Some interesting things I learned from this book are that Macho Man Randy Savage once tried to beat up Doyle and Graves; not only did Danzig write all of the original Misfits music and lyrics but Graves wrote a majority of the reformed Misfits music and lyrics; including their best known songs like American Psycho and he even wrote Dig Up Her Bones before he was in the band. If youre looking for a book you can sit down and read in one or two nights and love the Misfits buy a copy. If youre looking for a long; detailed account you wont find it here.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. I may be the only Misfits fan concerned with poor scholarship; but I was honestly hoping for something more substantial.
