Description

Over the last half century; historic preservation has been on the rise in American cities and towns; from urban renewal and gentrification projects to painstaking restoration of Victorian homes and architectural landmarks. In this book; Nancy R. Hiller brings together individuals with distinctive styles and perspectives; to talk about their passion for preservation. They consider the meaning of place and what motivates those who work to save and care for places; the role of place in the formation of identity; the roles of individuals and organizations in preserving homes; neighborhoods; and towns; and the spiritual as well as economic benefits of preservation. Richly illustrated; Historic Preservation in Indiana is an essential book for everyone who cares about preserving the past for future generations.

If you are or plan to be a project control engineer...dont miss this book...!!!By Jorge Luis LopezI am a 30 years experienced in CM; and hungry reader about the subject. I found this an excellent source about Construction Project Control. It clearly shows the integration of cost and schedule; one of the nightmares of good project management. The chapter about Earned Value is very good. Highly recommended...!!!3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great Book for a Student Learning the Construction Management BusinessBy Meaghan Doyle ; naThis was a great book for the class I had on Project Control. The format was extremely easy to follow and was very reader friendly. I had very little knowledge of project control prior to this class and the book was a great way for me to learn- referencing back to different aspects of construction management. I would recommend this book to students or professionals in the industry attempting to learn the subject on their own; or for a project control class.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Time and MoneyBy TheseusA slim book with a simple focus: the relationship of cost to time.Del Pico demonstrates that one has to have two-pronged systems. You manage costs to help with time issues and you manage time to gain control of cost issues.Throughout; the prose is lucid. The book is organized in a logical and user-friendly way. The book is probably strongest when it discusses how to evaluate progress (and predict outcomes) while in the middle of a project;
