Thats why I bought the Multilingual Dictionary of Real Estate. Its abstract implies that this dictionary is a sound reference for someone working in my field - I work as a specialised translator into French.Unfortunately; the level of French language displayed in this book is atrocious; which could lead one to conclude that the editors did not consult any native speakers of French. There are many typos; accents are missing and there are also numerous examples of fautes daccord. Furthermore; the conventions of French punctuation and typography have simply been ignored.Just to give a sense of what I mean; here are some random examples of the level of French displayed in the Kindle version:-"un reacute;sumeacute; de titres de proprieacute;teacute;s et dautres documents qui peuvent ecirc;tre utile aux acheteurs et autres vendeurs"-"les locataires principales dun centre commercial qui peuvent attirer des clients at par conseacute;quent dautres locataires."-"un emprunt financier qui doit ecirc;tre rembourser le moment ou les creacute;diteurs le reacute;clame".-"Une personne qui eacute;spegrave;re rapporter un beacute;neacute;fice avec leacute;xploitation dun bacirc;timent".-"la superficie totale dun bacirc;timent quon meacute;sure autours des murs exteacute;ieurs"-"la clause dans un contrat de bail qui permet le locataire de suspendre le paiement du loyer durant une peacute;riode speacute;cifique pour des raison preacute;coniseacute;es"-"Un magasin de detail avec une surface de plus de 1.000 metre carreacute;s et un parking qui vend les marchandises (non-alimentaires) dhabitude il est situeacute; aux faubourgs de la ville"These are not stylistic problems but major typos!I also asked a Spanish colleague to have a look at a few pages to get her opinion. Here is her response:"Indeed; the Spanish translation is terrible. Moreover; it has been done by an Italian who mixes prepositions. And the typography does not use the ntilde;. There are grammatical problems!"I suspect this second edition was published for English speaking readers; but it is meant to be a multilingual dictionary and as such; it should probably take into account potential readers of German; French; Spanish and Italian. This is clearly not the case.Most (proper) editors would consider that speaking a foreign language is not sufficient to claim the same level of expertise as native speakers.Also Im not sure what kind of expertise "Property Management" has; but this book certainly does not deserve a place in any library (property professionals or not); especially if one is taking the European Union languages seriously.Certainly not worth 200 quid in any case.
