Wicked Songbook: A New Musical - Easy Piano Selections

audiobook Wicked Songbook: A New Musical - Easy Piano Selections by From Hal Leonard in Arts-Photography

Description

Deep Ellum; on the eastern edge of downtown Dallas; retains its character as an alternative to the cityrsquo;s staid image with loft apartments; art galleries; nightclubs; and tattoo shops. It first sprang up as a ramshackle business district with saloons and variety theatres and evolved; during the early decades of the twentieth century; into a place where the black and white worlds of Dallas converged. This book strips away layers of myth to illuminate the cultural milieu that spawned such seminal blues and jazz musicians as Blind Lemon Jefferson; Buster Smith; and T-Bone Walker and that was also an incubator for the growth of western swing.Expanding upon the original 1998 publication; this Texas AM University Press edition offers new research on Deep Ellumrsquo;s vital cross-fertilization of white and black musical styles; many additional rare historical photographs; and an updated account of the area in the early years of the twenty-first century.

SimpsonThis should have been better titled People ad Profiles of the State Prisons and prisoners of Tennessee. There are relatively few meaningful images of the prison and basically nothing about the actual prison facilities or how they functioned. There is about as much history about the Civil War; escapes; and use for movies as there is about the actual prison. Details of what really went into the construction and operation of the prison; a map that labeled each of the buildings (which are shown beautifully on the cover); and how it actually functioned with the locations of the guards; access to the adjacent rail line; and details of typical day for the prisoners and the staff would have been useful. There was no reference to the 1971 Historic Survey of the TSP by Pledger or the State Archives document published in 1973; both of would provide much needed depth on the TSP itself instead of substantial text (as labeled in the TOC on such topics as "Growing pains" and "Unlikely Celebrity") barely relevant to the Tennessee State Prison. There is a need for another volume focused more on covering the TSP by the "Images of America" series; IMHO.
