Women have been making art for centuries; yet their work has been seen as secondary or has gone unrecognized altogether. Women Making Art asks why this is so; and what it would take for us to realize the extent of womens extraordinary contribution to the arts. Marsha Meskimmon mobilizes contemporary feminist thinking to reconsider how and why women have made art. She examines work by a wide range of women artists from different cultures and historical periods; including Rebecca Horn; Rachel Whiteread; Shirin Neshat and Maya Lin; emphasizing the diversity of womens art and the importance of differences between women.

Wonders of PolyhedraBy Jeffery ThompsonAn excellent introductory summary of polyhedral (polyhedrons) as they are found in nature as well as intellectual abstractions; e.g.; the Platonic solids.Mathematics are added as a natural description of what is observed -- the perfect way math should be used as a descriptive language. The book points the way to more detailed studies; ranging from crystal structures in elements (Aluminum; Iron; Manganese; etc.); to architecture.Nice starting point for topology spinning off from Eulers formula: vertices plus faces minus edges = a number; its 2 for most common polyhedral.
