ParsonsThis 160 pg. book about Gustave Klimt and his paintings is a bargain for the prices that good used copies are going for through as this is being written. Even the dust jacket in good condition is fit for framing. It features the head; shoulders and bosom of his "Judith II". (1909).Most of the plentiful illustrations are in color. They are spread among enough printed material to give the reader a pretty good idea of Klimt during his productive years. At the books end is a catalog of around 125 of his paintings. It contains thumbnail; black and white illustrations with brief descriptions. Following that is an orderly; year-by-year outline of the artists life and the names of principal artworks produced each year. There are many books about Klimt. I own several of them. This one (by Gerbert Frodl) is among my favorites. I cant say that its color illustrations match the originals exactly; for I have never seen a real Klimt painting. But the color work in this book is quite good.Gustave Klimt appears to have appreciated and enjoyed the proximity of the fairer sex; sometimes unclothed and in various positions. He most certainly liked to preserve their looks via his unique; compelling manner of illustration. Thank you Gustave Klimt. You were a man after my own heart.
